Antigen Information

Epidermal growth factor has a profound effect on the differentiation of specific cells in vivo and is a potent mitogenic factor for a variety of cultured cells of both ectodermal and mesodermal origin. The EGF precursor is believed to exist as a membrane-bound molecule which is proteolytically cleaved to generate the 53-amino acid peptide hormone that stimulates cells to divide. EGF stimulates the growth of various epidermal and epithelial tissues in vivo and in vitro and of some fibroblasts in cell culture.

Immunogen

r.HumanEGF.

Ig Subclass

Mouse IgG2b.

Purification Method

Ion exchange.

Protein Concentration

1mg/ml in PBS (after reconstitution).

Shipping Conditions

Antibody is shipped lyophilized at ambient temperature.

Reconstitution

Reconstitute with sterile H2O. Mix gently, wash the sides of the vial and wait 30-60 seconds before use.

Titer

By direct ELISA, 1:10,000 dilution will yield 0.3 O.D using alkaline phosphatase conjugated rabbit anti-mouse Ig (Jackson Laboratories).

Applications

Direct ELISA, Western Blot, Immuneprecipitation.

Stability / Shelf Life

Two years lyophilized, one month in solution at 4.

Storage Procedures

In lyophilized form, for long periods, store at 4 in a dry environment. After reconstitution, if not intended for use within a month, aliquot and store at -20.
